“Repenting once is the best” 11
II Chronicles 18:18-20 NKJV:
Then Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right hand and His left. And the Lord said, ‘Who will persuade Ahab king of Israel to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner. Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said, ‘I will persuade him.’ The Lord said to him, ‘In what way?’
I don’t know if he was a real prophet, but Micaiah caught the prophecy of a spirit that spoke false prophecies.
Everyone, you will receive various information, so you need to be able to tell whether it is from God, the devil, or whether it is just your own opinion.
Those who know this is not correct will not speak only the right things, although I won’t say 100%, speaking the words of the Lord will be more effective.
Micaiah saw.
“I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right hand and His left.”
And he said if there was anyone who would persuade Ahab of Israel.
Ahab would be defeated was decided.
“So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner.”
They had various manners but a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said, ‘I will persuade him.’
How would he do it?
II Chronicles 18:21 NKJV:
So he said, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the Lord said, ‘You shall persuade him and also prevail; go out and do so.’
‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’
In other words, 400 prophets will make false prophecies.
As vessels of God, we do not want to say the wrong thing, and like Micaiah, we always want to be people who clearly understand what God’s will is.
We say the same thing because everyone else is saying it.
Also, we don’t know what will happen to us if the king gets angry.
It’s not like that.
Micaiah later found himself in a situation where he only had a little water and little food, but if God tells him to speak, he speaks. This is what it means to be someone who obeys God.
Even if you don’t know what will happen to you by confessing your true faith, you must be clear in your attitude as a believer in God, “I believe in God. My faith cannot be overturned. I cannot worship the emperor. I cannot worship idols.”
When you do that, you will definitely be rescued, protected, and go to a place where you will be blessed.
Of course, you will be evaluated in heaven.
II Chronicles 18:22 NKJV:
Therefore look! The Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these prophets of yours, and the Lord has declared disaster against you.”
Four hundred prophets have spoken falsely, but the Lord has declared disaster against him.
Then the four hundred prophets got angry and hit Micaiah.
II Chronicles 18:23 NKJV:
Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the spirit from the Lord go from me to speak to you?”
It’s his own pride.
If he was told that the horns of iron are fake, he would lose his position.
II Chronicles 18:24 NKJV:
And Micaiah said, “Indeed you shall see on that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide!”
Micaiah’s prophecy came true, so he said that he would be unable to speak publicly because his prophecy was wrong and he have no choice but to hide.
II Chronicles 18:25 NKJV:
Then the king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son;
He ordered his men to take him in prison and feed him only a little bread and a little water.
II Chronicles 18:27 NKJV:
But Micaiah said, “If you ever return in peace, the Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said, “Take heed, all you people!”
Because Micaiah saw it clearly, so he said, “If you ever return in peace, the Lord has not spoken by me.”
If the king returns, it means his prophecy was wrong.
“Take heed, all you people!”

And then they went into battle.
Then Ahab came up with a plan.
II Chronicles 18:29 NKJV:
And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself and go into battle; but you put on your robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself, and they went into battle.
If he wore the king’s robes, he would be recognized as the king and would be targeted.
If the king falls, the battle is over, so he said he will go in normal clothes, but he said to Jehoshaphat, “you put on your robes.”
In other words, he did a sneaky thing to make Jehoshaphat the target.
Ahab, the king of Israel, disguised himself and went to battle, but even if he did something like that, God’s plan wouldn’t have changed.
II Chronicles 18:30 NKJV:
Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots who were with him, saying, “Fight with no one small or great, but only with the king of Israel.”
The enemy king’s target was the king of Israel, not King Jehoshaphat.
So the plan was to target only those wearing royal robes, and to kill Ahab.
II Chronicles 18:31 NKJV:
So it was, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, “It is the king of Israel!” Therefore they surrounded him to attack; but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him, and God diverted them from him.
Since Jehoshaphat was the only one wearing royal robes, the chariot commanders were going to attack him, thinking he was the king of Israel.
“Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him”.
When we have a problem, we cry out. We cry out to the Lord.
And we are helped.
And then, “God diverted them from him.”
Because their target was the king of Israel, not the king of Judah.
When they realized he was not the king of Israel, they stopped chasing him and turned back.

So how could they find and defeat Ahab?
We can never manipulate God’s hand.
How could Ahab, who was not dressed like a king, die?

So how could they find and defeat Ahab?
We can never manipulate God’s hand.
How could Ahab, who was not dressed like a king, die?
II Chronicles 18:33 NKJV:
Now a certain man drew a bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of his armor. So he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn around and take me out of the battle, for I am wounded.”
A bow that a man drew at random struck the small area between the king’s armor and the joints.
“I am wounded.”
And verse 34 says, “and about the time of sunset he died.”
We have God’s time.
It is God’s time for us to live and die. We cannot resist it.
However, as Christians, we are forgiven even if we have sinned.
We will not be killed and die by Satan.
Those who do not believe in God might be defeated by Satan and die.
If you are against God, no matter how much you devise, you will not be able to oppose the time of God that He decides.
Ahab came up with such a plan, but he died.
Jehoshaphat returned safely.
Then a seer named Jehu arrived.
II Chronicles 19:2 NKJV:
And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Therefore the wrath of the Lord is upon you.
Jehu the seer, the prophet, arrived.
And he asked that Ahab, the wicked man who was against God, if it is right to love a king who worshiped idols and hated the Lord.
The New Testament says to love your enemies, so we love with agape love. We forgive. “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”
It is the New Testament, but there is no need to enter into sin yourself.
However, since this is the Old Testament era, it says, “the wrath of the Lord is upon you.”
Jehoshaphat was a good king and did many good things (such as destroying idols), but he made friends with those who hate God. So he said it is not good.
We should also be careful.
We should not forget to pray for those people to believe in Jesus and to tell them about Jesus.
II Chronicles 19:3 NKJV:
Nevertheless good things are found in you, in that you have removed the wooden images from the land, and have prepared your heart to seek God.”
We cannot do it ourselves, but because of Jesus, our sins are forgiven.
Of course, we confess our sins.
If you, who have Jesus, want to have a marriage partner with an idol worshipper, you may be able to purify that person, but problems will arise.
If you do not have the same thoughts and judgments, there will be arguments.
So, to avoid such arguments, I think it’s best to be with people who think the same and make the same decisions.
Before I met Sister Naomi, I prayed for my future wife, that she was also Christian and would have the same faith.
Even if you are a Christian, if you are told that there is no healing in some denominations, you will not be able to agree on anything.
So I really hope that we share the same faith and make the same decisions.
Of course, there may be things that you need to change with your understanding of the Bible, but if you look at the Bible, you will naturally be same. That is, if you are people who believe in the Bible.

II Chronicles 19:4 NKJV:
So Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem; and he went out again among the people from Beersheba to the mountains of Ephraim, and brought them back to the Lord God of their fathers.
Jehoshaphat brought the people of Ephraim from Beersheba back to the Lord.
Of course, Jehoshaphat was originally a man of faith.
He made various preparations.
II Chronicles 19:5-6 NKJV:
Then he set judges in the land throughout all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city, and said to the judges, “Take heed to what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for the Lord, who is with you in the judgment.
He had judgement over the whole land through the Pentateuch of Moses (the Bible), and told the judges that it is for the Lord.
He has built a strong nation.
II Chronicles 19:7 NKJV:
Now therefore, let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take care and do it, for there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, no partiality, nor taking of bribes.”
Jehoshaphat was a king who was flawless in terms of faith or nation building.
The only thing that God hated him for was that he tried to be friendly with those who hated God.
“let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take care and do it”.
No iniquity, no partiality, nor taking of bribes, but judge righteously.
II Chronicles 19:8 NKJV:
Moreover in Jerusalem, for the judgment of the Lord and for controversies, Jehoshaphat appointed some of the Levites and priests, and some of the chief fathers of Israel, when they returned to Jerusalem.
He chose various people like this.
II Chronicles 19:9 NKJV:
And he commanded them, saying, “Thus you shall act in the fear of the Lord, faithfully and with a loyal heart:
Also, when there were cases that came to them whether of bloodshed or offenses against law, “you shall warn them, lest they trespass against the Lord and wrath come upon you and your brethren.” and to judge righteously. (Verse 10)
He tried to create a peaceful nation.
II Chronicles 19:11 NKJV:
And take notice: Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of the Lord; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for all the king’s matters; also the Levites will be officials before you. Behave courageously, and the Lord will be with the good.”
He appointed a person in charge of matters of the Lord and a person in charge for all the king’s matters.
And it is written that the Levites will be officials.

This is II Chronicles chapter 20. A problem arose. What kind of problem was it?
II Chronicles 20:1 NKJV:
It happened after this that the people of Moab with the people of Ammon, and others with them besides the Ammonites, came to battle against Jehoshaphat.
We read II Chronicles 19:2 earlier.
II Chronicles 19:2 NKJV:
And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Therefore the wrath of the Lord is upon you.
Moab and Ammon came to attack by this wrath.
These Moabites and Ammonites are the descendants of Abraham’s nephew Lot.
Genesis 19:29-38 NKJV:
And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when He overthrew the cities in which Lot had dwelt. Then Lot went up out of Zoar and dwelt in the mountains, and his two daughters were with him; for he was afraid to dwell in Zoar. And he and his two daughters dwelt in a cave. Now the firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man on the earth to come in to us as is the custom of all the earth. Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father.” So they made their father drink wine that night. And the firstborn went in and lay with her father, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. It happened on the next day that the firstborn said to the younger, “Indeed I lay with my father last night; let us make him drink wine tonight also, and you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father.” Then they made their father drink wine that night also. And the younger arose and lay with him, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. Thus both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father. The firstborn bore a son and called his name Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day. And the younger, she also bore a son and called his name Ben-Ammi; he is the father of the people of Ammon to this day.
They probably did this because they did not want their people to perish and they could not have children because there was no men. Now Moab and Ammon were to attack.
II Chronicles 20:2 NKJV:
Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, from Syria; and they are in Hazazon Tamar” (which is En Gedi).
They came close to the Dead Sea.
At that time, Jehoshaphat set himself to seek the Lord, it says. He proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
And many people came from all the cities of Judah to seek the Lord.
They were afraid of an enemy that they could not cope with on their own.

II Chronicles 20:6 NKJV:
and said: “O Lord God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You?
This is a prayer that acknowledges God’s power.
II Chronicles 20:7 NKJV:
Are You not our God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel, and gave it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever?
And they said that they have built a sanctuary here.
II Chronicles 20:9-10 NKJV:
’If disaster comes upon us—sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this temple and in Your presence (for Your name is in this temple), and cry out to You in our affliction, and You will hear and save.’ And now, here are the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir—whom You would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them and did not destroy them—
They were not destroyed here after all because they were the descendants of Lot.
Deuteronomy 2:9 NKJV:
Then the Lord said to me, ‘Do not harass Moab, nor contend with them in battle, for I will not give you any of their land as a possession, because I have given Ar to the descendants of Lot as a possession.’ ”
It is because they were the descendants of Lot.
Deuteronomy 2:19 NKJV:
And when you come near the people of Ammon, do not harass them or meddle with them, for I will not give you any of the land of the people of Ammon as a possession, because I have given it to the descendants of Lot as a possession.’ ”
When they left Egypt and entered the land of Canaan, they avoided these two nations.
But now they were attacking Judah, so they were having trouble.
II Chronicles 20:12 NKJV:
O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”
When we can do it ourselves, we try to do it ourselves, but when we really can’t, like Jehoshaphat, we look only to God.
And many people, including children, gathered together.

“Repenting once is the best” 17 -Final episode-
At that time, Jahaziel prophesied.
II Chronicles 20:15 NKJV:
And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
Now, they who were going to attack the land that Abraham received were the descendants of Lot.
That is why they were wrong.
There is a prophecy.
II Chronicles 20:16 NKJV:
Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel.
Prophecy also tells us from where the attack will come like this.
We are given wisdom about how troubles occur in life and what we should do.
What did Jahaziel say at that time?
II Chronicles 20:17 NKJV:
You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”
The time of the attack was also shown.
Then they worshipped and praised the Lord.
II Chronicles 20:20: Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.”
II Chronicles 20:21: “Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever.”
When we prepare our sacred robes and give thanks, victory will come.
Those who are in trouble now should give thanks. If we do so, we will receive grace and we will be victorious.
II Chronicles 20:22 NKJV:
Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.
And when they looked around, they saw that everyone was dead, so it took them three days gathering the spoil because there was so much.
II Chronicles 20:26 NKJV:
And on the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berachah, for there they blessed the Lord; therefore the name of that place was called The Valley of Berachah until this day.
We must not forget to praise.
They won and the entered the temple of the Lord.
Jehoshaphat had been warned once not to make friends with those whom God hated, but after Ahab died, he made another covenant with Ahab’s descendants.
What happened then?
II Chronicles 20:35-37 NKJV:
After this Jehoshaphat king of Judah allied himself with Ahaziah king of Israel, who acted very wickedly. And he allied himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish, and they made the ships in Ezion Geber. But Eliezer the son of Dodavah of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, “Because you have allied yourself with Ahaziah, the Lord has destroyed your works.” Then the ships were wrecked, so that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
Although it was once said that it was not good to associate with Ahab, this time he made a covenant with his son Ahaziah.
The descendants of Lot attacked him because he did not do the right thing, and even though he should have learned his lesson from that, he made another covenant.
Let’s not make the same mistake.
If we know that something is not pleasing to God, let’s try not to do it.
And we want to faithfully keep what the Bible teaches and walk the blessed path by God.
I give all glory back to the Lord. In the name of Jesus, amen.
